About Us

Welcome to the marvelous world of Milwaukee Conservation Leadership Corps (MCLC)! We are a group of urban youth learning how to appreciate, protect, and repair our planet. We do this by the means of dedication and hard work in outdoor settings.
MCLC started 5 years ago under the partnership of Student Conservation Association, Johnson Control Incorporated, Milwaukee Area Work Investment Board and the Milwaukee County Parks System. The program started with 40 high school students in 2005. In 2009, the number of high school students reached a peak of 100 due to further sponsors.

MCLC crew members are a diverse group of teens with different beliefs and cultures. We work all over Milwaukee County and do a substantial amount of work to benefit the environment infrastructure of the parks and the people who visit them.

Crew members have a wide range of responsibilities in order to keep the parks in order. Some of the duties crew members have are: trail building, invasive removal, blocking off trails that aren’t meant to be there, erosion control, and restoring natural lands.
Although crew members have a lot of tough work to endure, we still manage to have a good time and make great friends.
